What kind of health conditions can benefit from Massage Therapy?
Any condition that involves muscles, bones and joints. Ranging from neck, shoulder, elbow, knee, foot & back pain to arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, headaches and TMJ problems.
Massage improves the circulation in your body, this can help with your immune system function, your cardiovascular system and all your organ systems. An increase in the circulation of blood into organs and tissues improves their ability to remove waste products/toxins and increases the healthy oxygenated blood to nourish them.
Relaxation and relief of chronically tight muscles improves your overall feeling of well being and your ability to cope with stress.
What types of Massage Therapy Techniques do you provide? I combine several types and techniques of Massage.
Swedish massage is what many people think of when massage is mentioned; it uses long flowing stokes, deep kneading, light tapping and joint movements.
Therapeutic Massage uses more specific techniques, including Trigger Point Release to ease overly contracted muscle bands; Frictions for scar tissue; Fascial (Connective Tissue) Techniques to improve fascial function and movement within the body.
What does a Massage feel like? Massage on healthy tissue feels good.
The normal response is to slow down, breathe deeper and relax.
Many people just close their eyes, while others prefer to talk, it's your massage and whatever feels comfortable for you, is right for you.
Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time. It is your responsibility to indicate your perception of the pressure, tenderness, and your comfort level through out the session!
Massage on unhealthy muscle tissue can be painful, starting off with lighter techniques is key to ease your tissues into massage and better health.
Poor posture, overuse, repetitive movements, chronic dehydration, traumas, lack of proper rest and nutrition are all possible reasons for having unhealthy muscles.
